Senior Firmware Engineer

Job description

Elemind is seeking a full-time firmware engineer to develop next generation wearable neurotechnology. The engineer will share responsibility for the embedded firmware in Elemind’s products and will be a key contributor in taking the product from prototype to production. The candidate ideally has experience with C/C++, FreeRTOS, writing drivers, and implementing signal processing algorithms. The candidate must understand the need to move fast but also be rigorous with their work, taking the time to document and annotate to aid future debugging. This is an ideal position for a young and talented programmer willing to learn quickly and take responsibility for a wide variety of software development challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop peripheral drivers (i.e.: accelerometer, temperature sensor, light sensor).
  • Implement or port existing algorithms from C++ and Matlab.
  • Develop/maintain control software in Java.
  • Debug communication protocols.
  • Choose and integrate a NAND file system.
  • Participate in code reviews.
  • Develop test routines and scripts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience programming in C/C++ for embedded devices.
  • Experience reading IC data sheets and implementing their binary protocols.
  • Experience programming in Java.
  • Experience with git version control.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience debugging embedded ARM systems.
  • Experience debugging electrical circuits by tracing and probing.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing algorithms like FFTs and Filters.

Note: Our interview process will include an interview and a 4-8 hour (depending on experience) programming task for evaluation purposes.
