George Player has extensive experience in various analytical and managerial roles within the energy sector, currently serving as Engagement Lead for the MHHS Performance Assurance Framework & Qualification at Elexon since January 2018. Previously, George held positions as an Operational Support Manager, Risk Analyst, and Technical Assurance Analyst at Elexon. Prior experience includes working as a Business Analyst at Solarplicity and LOCO2 Energy Limited, and at Renault-Nissan Consulting UK, where George also served as a Business Analyst. George Player holds a Master of Zoology degree from Bangor University, earned between 2010 and 2014.

Elexon plays a key role in the electricity system by managing the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC), one of 10 major codes which set out the rules so that Britain’s energy system operates effectively. Elexon compares contracts to buy and sell electricity in the wholesale market with actual volumes. We work out a price for the differences and transfer funds accordingly. We are trusted, independent, reliable market experts and we provide our services without making profits. As Britain’s energy sector continues to evolve we are working to ensure that our BSC systems can support the future needs of our customers and progress to Net Zero. This includes rolling out Elexon Kinnect, our cloud platform to deliver Settlement and all of our services, including provision of open data on the wholesale electricity market.
