Johan van der Westhuizen

Johan Van der westhuizen has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Johan started their career in 1998 as a Process Specialist at Bayside Aluminium. In 2002, they joined Toyota SA as an Export Logistics Manager, where they set up and organized logistics for the movement of parts and vehicles globally. In 2004, Johan became the Plant Manager at Elkem, where they managed the entire business, including finance, marketing, maintenance, and process improvement. During their tenure, they successfully increased profitability by 400% through plant improvements and continuous improvement initiatives. In 2011, they joined Evraz Highveld Steel and Vanadium as a Works Manager - Maintenance, responsible for overseeing maintenance operations. Since 2014, Johan has been working at Elkem ASA, initially as a Plant Manager and currently as the Vice President of Operations.

Johan Van der Westhuizen completed their education with a Matric degree in Humanities/Humanistic Studies from Boksburg High School in 1986. Johan then pursued a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at Verwoerdburg Technical College from 1987 to 1990. In 2005, Johan obtained a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Kwazulu Natal. Later, in 2013, they participated in the Business Leadership Programme - Evraz New Leaders at the Skolkovo Moscow School of Business, focusing on Business/Commerce, General.
