David Payne has extensive experience in higher education administration, currently serving as the Associate Vice President for Planning and Engagement at Emory University since June 2006. In this role, David engages with faculty, students, staff, and community leaders on Emory's Master Plan. Prior to this, David held several senior director positions in operations and communications within the Office of the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration at Emory University, as well as serving as a Senior Associate for Communications and Public Relations at Ahmann Boyette Levy from 2004 to 2006. David earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Studies from the University of Richmond.
