Peter Gael has extensive work experience in the field of data science and cybersecurity. Peter is currently working as a Member of Technical Staff -- Data Science at Endor Labs, where they help developers with Open Source Software (OSS) adoption and software reuse. Prior to this, Peter worked at Splunk as a Senior Data Scientist from November 2017 to January 2022. At Splunk, they utilized their data science skills to analyze and interpret data for security purposes. Before that, they worked at Juniper Networks from May 2013 to November 2017, where they held various roles including Security Data Scientist and Technical Consultant. In these roles, Peter was responsible for developing machine learning-based systems to identify malware and improve the efficacy of security products. Peter also has experience working as a PhD Intern at Cisco Systems in 2011 and 2012. Additionally, Peter worked as a Mathematician at Army Research Lab and as a Hardware Development Engineer at IBM.

Peter Gael completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Engineering from Iowa State University from 2002 to 2006. Following that, they pursued a PhD in Mathematics at Penn State University, where they were a PhD candidate (abd) from 2008 to 2014.
