Laborelec
Mike Vandenbergh is a Senior Researcher at ENGIE Laborelec since February 2020, with previous experience as a Research Scientist at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre from January 2014 to January 2020, focusing on modeling future scenarios for regional power systems with high shares of renewable energies. Prior to that, Vandenbergh served as a Scientist and Project Manager at DERlab from September 2012 to December 2013, and as a Scientist at Fraunhofer IEE from January 2012 to July 2013, leading projects on rural electrification and hybrid systems. Earlier research roles include a position at the European Commission's Joint Research Centre from January 2010 to December 2011, concentrating on renewable energy integration in electricity grids. Vandenbergh holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Energy from Mines Paris - PSL and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electromechanical Engineering from Université libre de Bruxelles.
