Marnix Dekker is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in the European Union's cybersecurity landscape. Currently serving as the Head of Sector NIS at the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA) since December 2017, Marnix leads a team focused on implementing the NIS Directive and developing ENISA's strategy for the revised NIS2 Directive. Previously, Marnix held various roles at ENISA, including Cybersecurity Expert and Information Security Officer, and contributed to significant initiatives in telecom security and cloud computing. Marnix also has experience from the European Commission as Deputy CISO, where Marnix helped establish the corporate IT security framework. Early career roles included positions at KPMG Netherlands as a Senior Consultant, TNO Information and Communication Technology as a Consultant, and Genesy SRL as a Software Engineer. Marnix holds a PhD in Security and Privacy from the University of Twente and a Master of Science in Theoretical Physics from Utrecht University.

The European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) is a centre of network and information security expertise for the EU, its Member States, the private sector and Europe’s citizens. ENISA works with these groups to develop advice and recommendations on good practice in information security. It assists EU Member States in implementing relevant EU legislation and works to improve the resilience of Europe’s critical information infrastructure and networks. ENISA seeks to enhance existing expertise in EU Member States by supporting the development of cross-border communities committed to improving network and information security throughout the EU.
