Ruth Ann Castro is a Senior Environmental Health and Safety Counsel for in Google’s Legal Department. She provides strategic environmental, health, and safety advice for the company's sustainability initiatives and global operations, including the office facility and data center teams. In the past, she has worked with the energy teams to advance the company’s carbon neutral goal by securing renewable energy that greens the grid powering Google datacenters. Currently, she's guiding the company's response to the COVID pandemic. Prior to Google, Ruth Ann served as Special Counsel to the Environmental Group at Farella Braun + Martel LLP. Prior to that, she was an attorney at Fenwick & West LLP and clerked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX. Ruth Ann received a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Berkeley, and her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Tulane Law School.
