Darren McCrank

Director, Ontario Operations at EPCOR

Darren McCrank has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Darren began their career as an Army Engineer Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1993 to 2011. Following this, they worked as a Shift Supervisor at Sunpine Forest Products Ltd from 1997 to 1998. In 1998, they joined Shivasoft/Tigrsoft as an Applications Engineer responsible for implementing complex manufacturing processes. From 2000 to 2003, they worked as a Project Engineer at Nortel Networks. Darren then transitioned to the energy sector, joining AESO as a Senior Systems Engineer, Operations from 2003 to 2008. In 2009, they acted as an Operations Planner for the Canadian Armed Forces during their mission in Afghanistan. Darren returned to AESO in 2010 as a Program Manager until October 2010. Later that year, they joined TransAlta as Manager, Wind Engineering, and subsequently became the Director of Wind Operations and Director of Common Services responsible for various power plant functions. Finally, in 2016, they joined EPCOR as the Director of System Operations and later moved on to become the Director of Ontario Operations.

Darren McCrank completed their education at the University of Alberta, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they attended the Royal Military College of Canada from 1993 to 1997, earning a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical field of study. Darren also holds additional certifications including P.Eng. from APEGA and PEO, as well as PMP from the Project Management Institute.
