Theres Oakes

Theres Oakes is currently the Director of Translational Sciences at Epitopea, where the focus is on establishing the Translational Science strategy for an upcoming first-in-human clinical study. Prior experience includes consultancy at Oakes Scientific Consulting, assisting early startups in the cell and gene therapy field. Oakes held various leadership positions at Achilles Therapeutics plc from 2017 to 2024, including Head of Translational Science Product Characterisation, overseeing a team responsible for the functional and phenotypic characterisation of T cell products in clinical studies, project management, and assay development. Oakes has a strong academic background with a Ph.D. in Immunology from University College London, where a research fellowship involved T cell receptor repertoire analysis, and previously worked as a research assistant in T cell receptor gene transfer.
