Birgit Sovik Opheim

Birgit Sovik Opheim serves as the Vice President and Head of Investment Arena at Equinor since May 2018, overseeing the Early phase unit in TPD Project development, which is focused on advancing capital projects from DG0 through to concept selection and development on a global scale. Prior to this role, Birgit held various leadership positions at Statoil from August 2005 to May 2018, including Vice President roles in Early phase unit, Project Management, Engineering Construction and Completion, and Pipeline and Transport Technology. Birgit also contributed as a board member for the airport expansion project at Avinor's Flesland airport from August 2014 to August 2017. Earlier experience includes various positions at ExxonMobil from 1996 to 2005, where Birgit managed subsea modifications and construction projects. Birgit holds a PhD in Structural Mechanics and an MSc in Structural Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
