Sophia Northridge

Sophia Northridge PhD is currently the Head of UK LCS Region & Business Development at Equinor, overseeing carbon capture, transport & storage, hydrogen, and thermal power since April 2023, and also serves as a Strategy Leader focusing on the transition to low carbon energy. In addition, Sophia holds roles as Non Executive Board Director at the Carbon Capture and Storage Association and Chair of the Geological Storage Group for the Subsurface Task Force, both positions enhancing efforts in carbon capture, utilization, and storage within Europe. Prior experience includes leading CCUS transport and storage strategy at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, and various senior roles at Tullow Oil, where significant contributions were made in strategy, planning, mergers & acquisitions, and geological sciences. Sophia's educational background includes a PhD in Geology/Geochemistry from Trinity College Dublin and a Certificate in Energy Innovation from Stanford University.
