Velta Dzene possesses extensive experience in the insurance and finance sectors, currently serving as the Head of Corporate Portfolio in the Underwriting Department at ERGO Latvia since September 2022. Prior roles include Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer at Balcia Insurance SE and a System Analyst at Latvenergo AS. Velta Dzene spent over a decade at BTA Baltic Insurance Company AAS, fulfilling positions such as Business and Product Control Manager and Head of Financial Planning and Analysis Department, in addition to roles in risk underwriting and actuarial work. Early career experience includes working as a market monitoring specialist at Nasdaq and as a financial news redactor and journalist at Dienas bizness. Educational qualifications include degrees from Rīgas Tehniskā universitāte in web programming and life insurance, and a Master’s degree from Latvijas Universitate in Physics and Mathematics.
