Markus holds a Bachelor of Marine Technology degree and a Master Mariner certification from Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences. Prior to this, Markus completed their Matriculation Examination at Laajasalon lukio. In addition, Markus also worked as a Boat driver / Harbourmaster at Xmare Ltd.
