Lingran Zhang is currently a Software Engineer at ESS - Engineering Software Steyr since 2021. From 2017 to 2021, Lingran was a Research and Development Scientist and Lecture at Universit\u00e9 Grenoble Alpes, where they performed comprehensive research on hydro-mechanical behaviour of rocks based on numerical modelling, evaluated discrete element method with open-source software Yade to conduct investigation fracturing process and evolutions of hydro mechanical properties of rocks under various loading conditions, and utilized Python for simulation control and post processing and C++ for algorithm implementation. From 2016 to 2017, Lingran was a Research and Development Scientist at Universit\u00e9 de Nantes, where they carried out detailed research on susceptibility of hydraulic dam soils to internal erosion, assessed and validated numerical hydro mechanical behaviour of dams with analytical solutions, and implemented finite element method based on Fortran code to perform numerical modelling of hydro-mechanical behaviour of dam. From 2012 to 2016, Lingran was a PhD Researcher at Irstea, where they researched and assessed dynamic impact process of rock block and granular soil in context of rock fall hazards, delivering useful knowledge for rock fall engineering concerning block trajectory predictions and design of protection structures, and identified force chain in simulation by writing code in Python. Lingran also developed and presented scientific articles associated with numerical research in international conferences and seminars.
Lingran Zhang obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from China University of Mining and Technology in 2009. Lingran then went on to pursue a Master's Degree in Geomechanics from Hohai University, which they completed in 2012. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Geomechanics from Université Grenoble Alpes in 2015.
