Michael Kao

Michael Kao currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Essex Property Trust since December 2021, following roles as Vice President of Data Platform and Consultant within the same organization. Prior to this, Michael held the position of Advisor at Archer from October 2021 to December 2022 and served as Chief Information Officer at Aviation Capital Group from April 2020 to September 2021. Michael's tenure at Green Street Advisors spanned two decades, during which responsibilities included Chief Technology Officer, Managing Director of Technology, Director of Technology, Senior Associate, and Associate. Michael began his career as an Equity Analyst intern at United Overseas Bank Limited in late 1998. Academically, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology, Economics, and Chinese Studies from UC San Diego and attended the National University of Singapore in 1998.
