Matteo Bonfanti has a diverse and extensive work experience. Matteo started their career at UNDP Romania in 1998, where they served as a Programme Officer. Matteo then moved on to Simulware, where they worked as an International Business Development Manager for four years. In 2005, Matteo joined Sysdata Italia SpA as a Branch Manager before joining Insiel SpA as the Head of Procurement in 2006. In 2008, they became the Head of Administration and Finance at the Council of the European Union for two years. Matteo then worked at the European External Action Service in various roles, including Head of Mission Support in South Sudan and Iraq. Currently, they are the Head of Finance and Procurement Unit at eu-LISA, overseeing financial management, budget planning, procurement, and asset management.

Matteo Bonfanti obtained a Laurea degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the Università degli Studi di Trieste between 1991 and 1997. Matteo also holds additional certifications, including Functional Specialist - CIMIC from NATO, and a Security clearance at the EU level. eu-LISA

This is the official company page for the European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA). eu-LISA was established to manage large-scale information systems in the area of freedom, security and justice. It fulfils the operational management tasks for Eurodac, the Schengen Information System (SIS II) and the Visa Information System (VIS). The Agency thus supports the implementation of the EU's border management, asylum and migration policies. eu-LISA has also been entrusted with the preparation, development and operational management of the European Entry-Exit System (EES), the European Travel Information and Authorisation Systems (ETIAS) as well as the European Criminal Records Information System - Third Country Nationals (ECRIS-TCN) and ensure that both these and the already existing systems are interoperable. eu-LISA is responsible for keeping all the IT systems under its control permanently functional in order to allow continuous and uninterrupted exchange of data between national authorities.
