Pentti Hakkarainen

Pentti Hakkarainen serves as the Chair of the Administrative Board of Review at the European Central Bank since 2023 and previously held the position of Vice Chair in 2022. Hakkarainen is also a member of the Supervisory Board for ECB Banking Supervision. Prior to this, Hakkarainen was an Advisory Council Member at the Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation from April 2022 to May 2024, and held the role of Deputy Governor and Board Member at the Bank of Finland from January 2002 to January 2017. Hakkarainen's earlier career includes executive roles at POSTIPANKKI plc, OKO plc, and OUTOKUMPU Oyj, as well as experience as a diplomat with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Hakkarainen's extensive involvement spans multiple organizations and committees, including OLVI OYJ, FINNVERA OYJ, and the Nordic Investment Bank. Academic qualifications include degrees from Helsinki University, Helsinki School of Economics, and Stanford University.
