Laura Codruta Kovesi serves as the European Chief Prosecutor at the European Public Prosecutor's Office since November 2019. Kovesi previously held various roles, including Prosecutor at the High Court of Cassation and Justice and Chief Prosecutor at the National Anticorruption Directorate. Kovesi's extensive experience in prosecutorial positions also includes high-ranking roles such as General Prosecutor and Chief Prosecutor across multiple departments focused on combating organized crime and corruption. Academically, Kovesi holds a Doctor of Law degree in Penal Justice from West University Timisoara and has completed advanced studies in Judicial Law at Lucian Blaga University, in addition to a law degree from Babeș Bolyai University.
