European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC)
Tommaso Ghidini, Ph. D., serves as the Head of the Mechanical Department at the European Space Agency (ESA) since May 2007, where Tommaso has also held various leadership roles including Head of the Structures Mechanisms and Materials Division and Head of the Materials Technology Section. With a background in structural engineering and damage tolerance from previous positions at Airbus and the German Aerospace Center, Tommaso is actively involved in academia as an Adjunct Professor and a member of the Board of Advisors at Politecnico di Milano. Additionally, Tommaso contributes to multiple organizations including TwingTec, ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, and the European Space Resources Innovation Centre, among others, holding advisory and board membership positions.

Based in Luxembourg, the European Space Resources Innovation Center (ESRIC) fosters innovation and growth in the space resources industry by connecting leading academic, industrial and entrepreneurial talents. ESRIC’s activities are based on four main pillars: space resources research and development; support for economic activities; knowledge management and community management. The Centre, launched in Novembre 2020, is an initiative of the Luxembourg Space Agency (LSA) and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology(LIST) in strategic partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA).
