Michael Guerriere

President & CEO at Extendicare

Michael was appointed Extendicare’s President and Chief Executive Officer in October 2018. As a member of Extendicare’s Board of Directors, he has a diverse background with over 25 years of experience in hospital operations, health management consulting and technology. He served for ten years as an executive in university teaching hospitals, including as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the University Health Network. He was a founding partner of Courtyard Group, a healthcare consultancy with operations in Canada, the US and UK. Telus acquired Courtyard Group in 2011, after which Michael was Chief Medical Officer, Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Telus Health. Michael holds a degree in Medicine, and specialty training in Internal Medicine from the University of Toronto, an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and an honorary doctorate from Ryerson University.

Coming from a family tradition of dedication to patient care, Michael is passionate about improving our healthcare system and helping people live better lives by delivering quality care to a critical and growing segment of the population – seniors. Extendicare has a proud history of being at the forefront of senior care and he is excited to lead the Extendicare team as it builds on this legacy.
