Kurt Gnessin has a diverse work experience in the construction and facility services industry. Kurt currently holds the position of Vice President of Construction & Facility Services at Extra Space Storage since January 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Vice President of Facility Services at the same company starting from January 2020.
Before joining Extra Space Storage, Gnessin worked at Cracker Barrel as a Construction Project Manager from January 2017 to March 2019. In this role, they led multiple teams in developing new unit construction projects in the Western United States and was responsible for modifying the Cracker Barrel prototype for the California market.
From 2008 to 2016, Gnessin worked at Taco Bell as the Director of Facilities. Kurt led strategy and process improvements for total asset care and maintenance for Taco Bell's portfolio of over 900 corporate restaurants. Kurt managed a department of over 60 facility professionals and a budget of over $45 million.
Prior to Taco Bell, Gnessin worked at Yum! Brands from 2002 to 2008, taking on multiple roles. Kurt served as Sr. Manager of Real Estate, where they organized cross-functional teams to achieve new unit opening plans for all Yum! Brands concepts in the North Eastern United States. Kurt also worked as the National Brand Leader Facilities for LJS/A&W, leading total asset care and maintenance for over 700 corporate restaurants. Additionally, Gnessin was a Construction Project Manager, overseeing remodel construction projects.
Gnessin started their career at Taco Bell in 1997, where they held the role of National Projects Manager. Kurt led diverse cross-functional teams in executing energy conservation initiatives and national equipment rollouts in over 1,400 restaurants.
Throughout their career, Gnessin has demonstrated their expertise in construction project management, facility services, and real estate. Kurt has successfully led teams, developed strategies, and managed budgets in various roles within the industry.
Kurt Gnessin has a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration Management from Peirce College, which they obtained from 2004 to 2006. Before that, they attended Saddleback College from 2001 to 2003, studying Business and General Education. In 1985 to 1987, they attended San Diego State University, focusing on Biology and Chemistry. Additionally, Kurt has obtained certifications such as the Certified Restaurant Facility Professional (CRFP) from the Restaurant Facility Management Association in 2010 and the Retail Facilities Maintenance Professional (RFMP) from the Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM) in 2007.
