Peter Schäfer

Peter Schmidt is a quantitative researcher with extensive experience in alpha generation and portfolio optimization. Currently employed at Qube Research & Technologies since May 2022, Peter previously worked at IKOS CIF Limited from December 2019 to July 2021, focusing on research and implementation of alpha-generating strategies using statistical and machine learning techniques. Early career roles included a PhD researcher at ICFO from November 2014 to April 2019, where Peter conducted experimental research on light interactions with few-atom thick materials and supervised master's and internship students. Prior internships provided exposure to business strategy at Infineon Technologies and research simulations at the University of Alberta. Peter's academic credentials encompass a Master of Science in Mathematics and Finance from Imperial College London, a PhD in Physics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, as well as multiple degrees in Physics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München.
