Marianne Boqvist is an experienced professional specializing in youth, peace, security, and civil society support. Currently serving as the Head of the Youth, Peace and Security and Support to Civil Society programme (YCS) and the Head of Programme for Peace Archives at the Folke Bernadotte Academy since June 2019, Marianne has built a robust career in program management and research. Previous roles include Grant Manager for the MENA region at The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation and Program Manager at the Arab Reform Initiative. Marianne also has experience as a Project Manager with Cultural Heritage without Borders and served as Deputy Director and Researcher at the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul. Earlier in the career, Marianne worked as a Research Adviser for the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. Educationally, Marianne holds a PhD in Islamic History of Arts and Archeology from Université Paris-Sorbonne.

FBA (Folke Bernadotte Academy)

The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development. FBA supports international peace operations and international development cooperation. The agency conducts training, research and method development in order to strengthen peacebuilding and statebuilding in conflict and post-conflict countries. We also recruit civilian personnel and expertise for peace operations and election observation missions led by the EU, UN and OSCE.
