  • AL, FL, GA, TN Residents:  $100,817 (min) - $131,811(mid) - $161,307 (max)
  • NC Residents: $103,935 (min) - $135,115 (mid) - $166,296 (max)
  • DE, MD, PA, TX, VA Residents: $109,132 (min) - $141,871 (mid) - $174,610 (max)
  • DC Residents: $122,643 (min) - $159,436 (mid) - $196,229 (max)
  • CA & NY Residents:  $126,800 (min) - $164,299 (mid) - $202,881 (max)

Fearless is looking for a Information Systems Security Officer to add to our diverse team of 250+ employees (and counting!).

What you’ll be doing

The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) defines and implements an organization’s or system’s security procedures to protect information and prevent unauthorized access. They champion security thinking and inspire teams and organizations to improve their security practices. The ISSO brings deep knowledge in system security and a collaborative mindset to set up clients to efficiently protect sensitive information and maintain trust with their stakeholders and users.

Responsibilities and Contributions 

Organizational and Leadership Role 

  • Partners with clients to understand their security processes, policies, and culture.
  • Champions the digital transformation of security for the company and clients.
  • Grows capability in the company to research and investigate possible security breaches and incidents.

Functional Role 

  • Designs security architectures that implements relevant security controls as required
    by laws, regulations, and client policies.
  • Produces documentation for ATO certification and accreditation of the system, such
    as System Security Plans, and any tenant applications in accordance with NIST
    requirements.
  • Develops detailed security standards and operating procedures that support
    organizational security policy.
  • Delivers privacy compliance documentation after analyzing privacy impacts of a
    system.
  • Performs vulnerability/risk assessments to recommend improvements that enhance
    the protection of information and prevent unauthorized access.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Competencies  

Must-Have Skills

  • BS/MS/MEng in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar technology-related degree.
  • Ability to acquire Public Trust Clearance.
  • 8 years of relatable experience or greater.
  • Deep professional knowledge of federal security standards (FISMA, NIST 800-53), incident response, vulnerability assessment, IAM, and security monitoring tools (GuardDuty, Security Hub). 
  • Ability to implement a Zero Trust architecture and ensure comprehensive data protection in alignment with FISMA, NIST 800-53, and SEC-specific security mandates. 
  • Ability to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments, monitor security protocols, and enforce role-based access to safeguard sensitive data
  • Demonstrated work experience with POAM (Plan of Action Milestone).
  • Demonstrated work experience navigating security teams to achieve continuous ATO (Authority to operate).
  • Demonstrated work experience auditing and advising work teams.

Highly Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with government or large industry clients.
