Ruth Beeckmans has held various roles throughout their work experience. In 2022, they worked as a Project Officer for both Fedasil's International Unit and the European Migration Network. From 2019 to 2020, they were a Senior Programme Officer at International IDEA. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2019, Ruth was a Policy Officer at FIABEL, where they assessed monitoring and evaluation frameworks and provided advisory support for the advancement of Sustainable Development Goals. In 2016, they worked for UNDP as the Lead Author of the Handbook "Youth Inclusive Electoral Processes" and developed online trainings for Electoral Management Bodies. From 2013 to 2015, Ruth served as the Project Manager for the International Knowledge Network of Women in Politics at UNDP and also worked as a Policy Analyst for Parliamentary Development from 2010 to 2013. Other roles they held include Regional Electoral Coordinator at the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti MINUSTAH in 2009, Policy Analyst at Broederlijk Delen in 2006, and Policy Analyst at Flemish Refugee Action from 2003 to 2007. In 2005, they worked as a staff member for the Justice and Peace Commission in Burundi, where they were involved in human rights, conflict management, and gender workshops.
Ruth Beeckmans obtained their Master's Degree in International and European Law from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in the years 2001 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed another Master's Degree in Comparative Culture sciences from Ghent University from 1998 to 2000.
