FESSENDEN SCHOOL
Peter Sanderson has been twice elected president of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council. He has also attended the first International Boys’ School Coalition Athletic Director’s Conference, been a speaker and panel representative three times at the American Association of Physical Education, Recreation and Dance conferences, and has won the Van Order Award for dedication to junior school wrestling. At Fessenden, in addition to his duties as Director of Athletics and head of the physical education department, Peter has been the varsity basketball coach for 27 years. He also teaches physical education in the Lower School, is a residential faculty member, and is a part of the administrative council. Over the past thirty years Peter has served as the Director of the Fessenden Day Camp and for nearly a decade was the Director of athletics at the Meadowbrook School. His position as a Lower School teacher and as the Director of Athletics allows him to work with students as they develop throughout their years at Fessenden. Outside of his work, Peter is an avid golfer and has coached a summer Babe Ruth baseball team in Newton for the past twelve years.
