Ankit Raj

Ankit Raj is a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Field AI since April 2025, with a robust background in applied machine learning and computer vision. Prior experience includes a tenure as a Senior Applied Scientist II at Cruise, where Ankit developed Convolution-Transformer based architectures for end-to-end perception systems for Traffic Lights, alongside contributions to spatio-temporal multitask models for vulnerable road user behavior analysis. Ankit's earlier roles at Cruise involved prototyping LIDAR-camera and radar-camera sensor fusion for 3D object detection. Ankit also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, focusing on inverse problems in computer vision using Generative Adversarial Networks. A Computer Vision Intern at Apple, Ankit contributed to the design of an optimized architecture for video face segmentation. Ankit holds a Master of Science in Machine Learning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
