Ralf-Martin Soe

Ralf-Martin Soe has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Ralf-Martin is currently serving as the Director of FinEst Centre for Smart Cities since May 2019. Prior to that, they worked as an Assistant Professor at TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology from March 2015 to present, with a role as a (Junior to Senior) Researcher from March 2015 to March 2023. Ralf-Martin also held the role of Counsellor to the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Information Technology at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications from May 2017 to August 2018. Moreover, Ralf-Martin worked as a PhD fellow at United Nations University/ Maastricht University from September 2012 to August 2013. In the past, they also worked as a Political Officer (Economics) and Trade Advisor at The British Embassy Tallinn from September 2011 to August 2012 and as a Junior Associate at PwC Estonia from September 2009 to August 2010.

Ralf-Martin Soe's educational history includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Tallinn University, completed between 2003 and 2006. Ralf-Martin then pursued an MBA in Financial Management from the University of Tartu, completed between 2006 and 2008. In 2010 and 2011, Ralf-Martin Soe obtained an MSc in Public Policy Financing from the United Nations University/Maastricht University. Finally, between 2013 and 2018, they attained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from TalTech - Tallinn University of Technology.

In FinEst Centre we aim to improve urban environments by testing new technologies with cities, and through that, grow into an internationally renowned research and development centre. FinEst Centre for Smart Cities is an independent organisation under Tallinn University of Technology. FinEst Centre is an international organisation founded by Tallinn University of Technology, Aalto University, Forum Virium Helsinki and the Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications. This project has received funding from two grants: the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, under the grant agreement No. 856602, and the European Regional Development Fund, co-funded by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research, under grant agreement No. 2014-2020.4.01.20-0289.
