Tim Gillespie is a seasoned electronics engineer with extensive experience in various roles across prominent companies in the industry. Currently serving as Principal Electronics Engineer at FirstBuild since June 2014, Tim has also held positions as Senior Electronic Design Engineer and Community Manager - Electronics within the same organization. Prior to FirstBuild, Tim worked at GE Appliances, a Haier company, where responsibilities included the role of Electronics Design Engineer from August 2006 to June 2014. Earlier career experience includes working as a Hardware Design Engineer at Innovative Electronic Designs, LLC from August 2001 to August 2006, and multiple co-op positions at Thomson Consumer Electronics from 1999 to 2000. Tim holds a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Louisville, attained from 1996 to 2001, and received a High School Diploma in Math, Science, and Technology from duPont Manual High School in 1997.

GE Appliances and Local Motors have partnered to create a new model for the appliance industry, engaging a community of industrial designers, scientists, engineers, makers and early adopters to address some of the toughest engineering challenges and innovations. FirstBuild will then manufacture those designs in its Microfactory for rapid productintroduction and iteration. This partnership will pioneer the future of work with a new model for inventing, building and bringing the next generation of major appliances to the market.
