Marita Hefler

Marita Hefler is a Professor and Matthew Flinders Professor at Flinders University, providing expertise in public health and tobacco control. Since July 2012, Marita has served as Editor-in-Chief and held multiple editorial roles for Tobacco Control at BMJ. Previous positions include leading the Tobacco Endgame Program at Menzies School of Health Research and working as a Principal Health Advisor for the Northern Territory Government. Marita's research focuses on qualitative studies related to Indigenous health and tobacco control, with significant projects under NHMRC grants. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Public Health and a Master of Public Health, alongside advanced degrees in International Social Development and Asian Studies.
