Michael Malatesta

Michael Malatesta has a diverse work experience. Michael has worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Flywheel Software since January 2022. Previously, they held the role of Data Science Engineer II at the same company from January 2018 to January 2022. In 2017, Michael worked as a Data Scientist Contractor at Diablo Country Club for a brief period from October to November. Michael also gained experience as an Instructor at Mad Science in 2017, where they taught physics, chemistry, and robotics to children aged 6-10. Prior to that, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma from August 2013 to July 2015, analyzing time series spectral data and mentoring undergraduates in data analysis techniques. In 2014, Michael interned as an Optics Lab Intern at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Michael also served as a Telescope Technician at the University of Denver from June 2011 to November 2012, working on retrofitting a drive system for a telescope and assisting in the repair of an observatory.

Michael Malatesta completed a Data Science Immersive program at Galvanize - San Francisco, SoMa in 2017. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Astrophysics at the University of Oklahoma from 2013 to 2015. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Denver, which they obtained between 2008 and 2012. Michael also received their high school diploma with a focus on GED-Physics from Vermont Academy in 2008. In addition to their academic achievements, they obtained certification as a Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer in March 2019, offered by Google.
