Gerard O'Rourke

Gerard O'Rourke began their work experience in 2001 as an Application Developer at BHP Billiton. Gerard then worked as an eBusiness Analyst at Comreg from 2005 to 2008. From 2008 to 2013, they served as an IT Manager at ComReg, where they were responsible for managing the Information Technology department. In 2014, Gerard joined Fónua Ltd. as the Head of IT, and later became the IT Director in July 2021.

Gerard O'Rourke has a diverse education history spanning over two decades. In 1996, they enrolled at Dublin City University for a degree in Electronic Engineering, which they completed in 2000. To expand their knowledge in the field of Internet systems, Gerard pursued a Master's degree in Internet Systems at the same institution, graduating in 2006.

After gaining expertise in electronic engineering and internet systems, Gerard decided to further enhance their skills in various other areas. In 2009, they attended InspiredSS to expand their knowledge in SharePoint. In 2010, they enrolled in the Digital Marketing Institute, where they earned a diploma in Digital Marketing, and simultaneously pursued project management at TPG Academy.

In 2011, Gerard attended Big Wave Media to specialize in IOS Development, and later that year, they joined the Institute of Public Administration to gain proficiency in Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery.

Gerard continued to explore the field of IT services management, acquiring the ITIL Foundation certification from AMPG in 2012. In the same year, they attended the Irish Management Institute and obtained a Diploma in Cloud Strategy to broaden their expertise.

In 2013, Gerard briefly attended SureSkills to attain an intermediate-level certification in ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library).

Looking ahead, Gerard has plans to enroll in the CTO Academy in 2023, although the details of their degree program and field of study are yet to be determined.
