Jim R. has over 20 years of work experience in various roles and companies. Jim started their career as a FedEx Contractor/Consultant in 1999 before moving on to work as a Senior Consultant at Quilogy. At Quilogy, they administered multiple Oracle databases and was involved in building financial systems for companies like Schering-Plough, Playtex, and Hawaiian Tropic. In 2002, they joined Intergraph as a Senior Systems Consultant where they specialized in Oracle solutions, including architecture, administration, backup and recovery, and performance tuning. Jim also had experience in virtualization using VMware ESX and EMC storage. In 2009, Jim joined Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Database Administrator, where they implemented security measures and ensured system reliability for Oracle databases and Red Hat Enterprise Linux Servers. Jim then worked at SAIC as a Lead Oracle Database Administrator, focusing on enterprise architecture and consolidation projects for NASA. In 2015, they joined COLSA Corporation as a Cyber Security Engineer IV, providing operational cyber support to the U.S. Army National Guard Professional Education Center. Jim then worked at Scientific Research Corporation as a Senior Cyber SME, leading a DOD Cyber Operations course. Jim moved on to DESE Research, Inc. as a Senior Cyber Engineer, conducting research on software assurance projects. At Leidos, Jim worked as a Senior Cyber Security Code Analyst, providing cybersecurity compliance and assessments for a DOD customer. Currently, they are working at FAS as a Federal Technical Solutions Engineer, contributing to the development of next-generation security products. Overall, Jim R. has a diverse background in cybersecurity, database administration, and software development.
Jim R. has a strong education background in the field of information technology and cybersecurity. Jim obtained their Associate of Science (AS) degree in Computer Service Technology from Dyersburg State Community College from 1981 to 1983. Later, they pursued their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Information Technology / Information Systems Security from the University of Phoenix, attending from 2008 to 2011. Jim R. then went on to earn a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cyber Security from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2012-2013.
In addition to their formal education, Jim R. has obtained several certifications to further enhance their knowledge and expertise. Jim achieved the Security+ certification from CompTIA in June 2010 and then obtained the Security+ CE certification in December 2013. Jim R. also holds the Network+ CE certification, which they earned in March 2014, again from CompTIA.
