Simo Vapaakoski

Simo Vapaakoski has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Simo began their career as a Researcher at VTT in 1990, where they worked until 1993. Simo then joined Nokia Technologies, initially as a Senior Design Engineer, where they focused on product development, hardware, software, and concepting. In this role, they also contributed to standardization work, particularly in the field of Bluetooth. Simo was later promoted to Product Development Manager and then to Product Program Manager, demonstrating their ability to take on leadership positions within the company.

In 2012, Simo transitioned to Microsoft, where they initially worked as a Project Manager, overseeing various projects. Simo then progressed to the role of Senior HW Program Manager, where they were responsible for project management and engineering in the phone user interface area. This encompassed tasks such as capacitive sensing, developing technology in electronics, software, mechanics, testing, and manufacturability. Simo successfully held this position until 2016.
