LaToya Jordan joined the Forestdale Board in 2021. She is a writer at the New York City Housing Authority, where she helps tell the stories of the residents, employees, programs, and policies of North America's largest public housing authority. She has 15+ years of experience in internal and external communications in the non-profit, higher education, and government sectors. She is also a published poet, fiction writer, and essayist. She holds a BS in public relations and journalism from Utica College and an MFA in creative writing from Antioch University Los Angeles. LaToya is passionate about volunteering with organizations that serve young New Yorkers, previously serving as a mentor to teen girls at Unlocking Futures and Girls Write Now.

Forestdale’s roots go back 165 years, when a group of women affiliated with a church in Brooklyn founded an industrial school for children, which in 1980 became Forestdale. Forestdale is the only child welfare agency headquartered in Queens, with an exclusive focus on the particular needs of Queens' and Brooklyn communities & families.
