Maricela Aquino is a dedicated social work professional with extensive experience in various roles supporting vulnerable populations. Currently serving as a Clinical Social Work Intern at Forestdale, Inc. since September 2018, Maricela provides individual therapy to pregnant and parenting women, utilizing methods such as mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy. Previous roles include involvement in the hiring committee as a Screening Squad member at VOICE Charter School and serving as a Classroom Assistant managing student behavior. Maricela has also interned at Central Queens YM & YWHA, supported operations at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, volunteered with Esperanza International, and worked as a Domestic Program Assistant at The Barker Adoption Foundation. Maricela holds a Master of Social Work from Touro University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from The College of Wooster.

Forestdale’s roots go back 165 years, when a group of women affiliated with a church in Brooklyn founded an industrial school for children, which in 1980 became Forestdale. Forestdale is the only child welfare agency headquartered in Queens, with an exclusive focus on the particular needs of Queens' and Brooklyn communities & families.
