Junior Machinist

Sawco Industries is looking for a Junior Machinist in Salmon Arm, BC. This is a great entry-level position that will offer training, mentorship and growth potential for those who are mechanically inclined and enjoy working within a shop environment.

At Sawco we are your one stop shop for all your saw maintenance and repairs. Only the top-quality carbide tips are used in the repair of existing saw and state of the art CNC equipment utilized for sharpening.

Using over 40 years’ experience in the sawfiling business, we ensure your saws are maintained, repaired and sharpened for optimal performance. Priding ourselves on customer service and ensuring our customers have the best saws to meet their unique milling needs.

Role & Responsibility

As a member of the manufacturing team, the Junior Machinist will be responsible for tasks required to manufacture and service carbide saw blades including:

• Cleaning and polishing of saws;
• Removing saw tips. Hand brazing
• Running various machines used in the manufacturing of saws
• Training on all machine centres
• Various other related shop duties

Compensation

• $20.00 – $30.00/hour dependent on previous experience and skills; and
• Extended health and dental benefits available after 3 months.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating machines and related equipment would be an asset;
• Strong mechanical aptitude;
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs throughout the shift;
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment;
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written; and
