Robert Cowin is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in government relations and environmental advocacy. Currently serving as Senior Manager for Western U.S. Government Relations at Fortescue Future Industries since September 2022, Cowin previously held the position of Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Engagement at the U.S. Department of Energy for a brief term in early 2021. Cowin's longstanding tenure at the Union of Concerned Scientists included roles such as Director of Government Affairs focused on Climate and Energy, as well as various representative positions. Earlier career experiences include work with the National Environmental Trust in campaign organizing and field operations, focusing on significant environmental issues. Cowin holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Affairs from The Fletcher School at Tufts University and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Boston College.
