Sören Auer

Sören Auer is an accomplished professional in the fields of data science, digital libraries, and semantic technology. Currently serving as the Director of the Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) and a Professor at Leibniz University of Hannover since July 2017, Sören also contributes as a member of the L3S Research Center, enhancing research in AI and digital transformation. Additionally, Sören holds a position on the board of eccenca GmbH, focusing on semantic technology development, and has served as a Kurator at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and an advisory board member at the Georg-Eckert-Institut für internationale Schulbuchforschung. Prior experience includes a directorial role at the BDVA, where Sören was instrumental in its establishment and in shaping research agendas for EU-funded big data initiatives. Previous academic positions were held at the University of Bonn and Leipzig University, where significant contributions to research groups and departments were made. Sören Auer obtained a degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Technische Universität Dresden and a PhD in Computer Science from Leipzig University.
