Job description

The Practice Technology Manager plays a pivotal role in driving innovation at Fried Frank by leading a dedicated team of experts. This position is not only responsible for managing the firm's practice technology stack but also for fostering a culture of innovation that elevates efficiency, quality, and service for both lawyers and clients. The manager will ensure strategic budget management, specialized support, effective vendor relationships and seamless technology adoption across the firm.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

  •  Lead and Inspire: Head a team of technology analysts, providing visionary leadership, mentorship, and performance management to cultivate a high-performing innovation team.
  • Innovation Stewardship: Oversee the practice technology budget and contracts, ensuring resources are allocated to drive cutting-edge solutions and advancements.
  • Vendor Collaboration: Build and nurture strong vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and oversee the delivery of practice technology services to align with the firm's innovative goals.
  • Technology Mastery: Deliver ongoing support and troubleshooting for advanced systems, including data rooms, legal AI technologies, drafting software, and document automation tools, ensuring they contribute to the firm's innovative edge.
  • Training and Development: Design and implement comprehensive training programs to ensure lawyers and staff are proficient in utilizing technology to its fullest potential.
  • Adoption and Improvement: Monitor technology usage and adoption, identifying opportunities for enhancement and implementing strategies to maximize innovative impact.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work in partnership with IT, knowledge management, practice management, and professional development teams to align technology initiatives with the firm's strategic objectives.
  • Trend Awareness: Stay at the forefront of legal technology trends and innovations, recommending and integrating new solutions to maintain the firm's position as an industry leader.

 Qualifications:

  •  Demonstrated success in leading application and vendor management with a focus on innovation is required.
  • Experience supporting a dynamic and industrious user base is required.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess technological needs and performance metrics are required.
  • Financial acumen for managing budgets and reporting on technology investments is a plus.
  • Technical expertise in legal software and systems to provide effective support and training is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ITIL methodology is a plus.

 Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least ten (10) years of professional experience
  • At least three (3) years of experience in application and vendor management

 Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Tools (Outlook, Teams, OneNote, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and PowerBI is a plus.
  • Working AI knowledge is required.
  • Working knowledge of legal technologies such as HighQ, Litera drafting tools and Luminance is a plus.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery and associated technologies is a plus.
The actual salary offered will be based on a number of factors including but not limited to the qualifications of the applicant, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
New York Salary Range
$150,000$200,000 USD
