Angela D. has a diverse work experience in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion across organizations. Angela is currently the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Friends of Youth, where they develop policies, collaborates with leadership, facilitates training programs, and advocates for inclusive practices. Prior to that, they worked as a Dental Assistant at Sea Mar Community Health Centers, where they prioritized equity in providing high-quality dental care to all patients. Angela also has experience as an Internationally trained Dentist in Colombia, working in various settings to provide dental services to patients in need. Angela has held positions at The Parkinson's Foundation, Rogers Behavioral Health, and Sea Mar Community Health Centers, where they focused on community engagement, multicultural programming, behavioral specialist, and multicultural health education. Additionally, Angela has worked as a Health Education Specialist at Health Advocate, a Health Equity Educator Consultant at Public Health - Seattle & King County, an HIV and Diversity Program Manager at the American Red Cross, and a Health Equity Program Coordinator at the University of Utah. Their roles in these positions involved assessing community needs, planning and implementing programs, and promoting inclusive practices.
Angela D. has an extensive education history. Angela obtained their Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management from the University of Washington in 2023. Prior to that, they completed a Certificate program in Project Management from the same university in 2020.
In 2005, Angela earned their Masters in Health Promotion and Education from the University of Utah. Before pursuing their masters, they studied Dentistry at Universidad El Bosque from 1996 to 2001, obtaining the degree of International Dentist. Angela also holds a Dentist degree from the same institution, although the start and end years are not specified.
In addition to their formal degrees, Angela has obtained multiple certifications. In 2021, they completed the "Business Development Foundations: Researching Market and Customer Needs" certification from LinkedIn, and the "Leading with Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Certificate" from the University of Utah. In 2020, they obtained the "Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)" certification from the Project Management Institute. In 2014, Angela became a Master Certified Health Educator, certified by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Angela also completed the "Organizational Design for Digital Transformation" course from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 2020.

For over 70 years, Friends of Youth has been driven by a belief that all youth should have every opportunity to succeed, and partners with youth and families to provide the relationships, resources, and skills they need to attain personal growth and success. With 24 program sites serving 18 cities in the Puget Sound Region, Friends of Youth provides safe places and emotional support for youth facing circumstances including homelessness, foster care, and behavioral health challenges.
