John R. Hovell

John R. Hovell is an experienced professional in the fields of art direction, illustration, and photo retouching. Currently serving as a Senior Photo Retoucher at GAF since January 2023, Hovell enhances digital photos by modifying elements, backgrounds, and settings under the guidance of an art director. With a long-standing role as an Art Director at Ganton Agency and as a freelance illustrator, retoucher, and comp artist through Brian J. Ganton and Associates, Hovell has worked with notable clients such as The New York Times and Reader's Digest. Additionally, Hovell has contributed to education as an adjunct professor at Sussex County Community College, teaching illustration and software skills. Prior experience includes graphic design at Ciba-Geigy and various freelance roles since 1997.
