Peter McHale has a diverse work experience in the technology and energy sectors. Peter is currently the Co-Founder and CEO of Gaia AI, a position they have held since December 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Co-Managing Director of the ClimateTech & Energy Prize @MIT starting in September 2020. In 2020, they also worked as a Summer Associate at Darling Ventures.
Before their recent roles, Peter was employed at May Mobility as a Technical Program Manager from June 2019 to March 2020 and as a Robotics Engineer (Perception) from June 2018 to June 2019. Peter also gained experience as a Software Engineer at Argo AI from April 2017 to May 2018 and as an FCG Research Engineer at Ford Motor Company from July 2015 to April 2017.
Peter McHale has a strong educational background in the fields of robotics, computer engineering, and business administration. Peter holds a Master's degree in Robotics from the University of Michigan, which they obtained from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, from 2011 to 2015, they attended Carnegie Mellon University and earned both a Master's degree in Computer Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Currently, Peter is pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where they are expected to graduate in 2022.

Gaia AI uses drones, Lidar, and computer vision to collect data in forests. Gaia AI applies perception AI similar to that used in autonomous vehicles to accurately and automatically process LiDAR and camera data on forests. By combining the most advanced sensor technologies with perception AI, we are able to offer greatly improved measurementaccuracy at a lower cost than current manual solutions.
