Saphir Faid

Saphir Faid is an experienced engineering leader currently serving as Senior Director of Engineering - Electric Product Development at Garrett - Advancing Motion since June 2021. Previously, Saphir held multiple roles at Punch Powertrain from 2012 to 2021, including Director of R&D China, where leadership encompassed an engineering organization of over 100 people, and Manager of Advanced Development, overseeing research and pre-development projects. Saphir co-founded the Agoria Solar Team, contributing to the development of Belgium's first solar car and achieving 1st place in significant competitions. Other roles include Chief Engineer for Electric Drives and Lead Engineer for Transmission Development at Punch Powertrain, as well as co-founding Regeneracing, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered racing project. Saphir has also contributed to academia as an Assistant Professor at GroupT - International University College Leuven, focusing on various engineering disciplines, and holds a Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering from GroupT Leuven University College.
