Yuliya Makeyeva

Yuliya Makeyeva has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Yuliya started their career as an undergraduate student participating in clinical studies at the Department of Vascular Surgery and the Department of Dermatovenerology. During this time, they investigated and reported on the first clinical AIDS case in Ukraine and studied plasmapheresis and its therapeutic effect on patients with ischemia of the lower extremities.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Yuliya became a researcher PhD student at Lviv National Medical University. During this time, they investigated the structure and function of submandibular salivary glands and pancreas in subjects with thyroid dysfunction. Yuliya also created experimental models of thyroid pathology in rats and tested the efficacy of drug treatments. Their research involved techniques such as immunohistological techniques, electron microscopy, and blood biochemical and quantitative analyses.

Yuliya then moved on to work at UNSW as a researcher PhD student. Yuliya investigated chemoreception in a variety of non-olfactory systems in rats and humans, as well as rats with metabolic disorders. In addition to their research, they developed projects from concept to completion, mentored ILP students, and set up experiments, purchased supplies, and developed experimental and imaging protocols.

More recently, Yuliya worked as a visiting scientist at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research, where they prepared scientific papers for publication based on the results described in their PhD thesis. Yuliya also performed additional studies on the expression of olfactory proteins in non-olfactory tissues using electromicroscopy.

Throughout their career, Yuliya has gained extensive experience in research, project development, supervision, mentoring, teaching, and conducting experiments using various techniques and methods.

Yuliya Makeyeva's education history is as follows:

In 1986, they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Lviv National Medical University 'Danylo Halycky' in an unspecified field of study.

From 1992 to 1996, they pursued further education at the same university but did not obtain a specific degree or field of study.

Yuliya then completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Normal Physiology and Histology from Ukraine National Academy of Science from an unspecified start year until 2000.

In 2012, Yuliya enrolled at UNSW, where they pursued a PhD in Chemoreception, focusing on olfactory signalling proteins in non-olfactory systems. Yuliya successfully completed this program in 2018.

Subsequently, in 2019, they returned to UNSW for a second PhD program, this time in Neuroscience and Reproduction. The end year for this program is not provided in the information available.
