Jamey Barbas is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in engineering and management within the transportation and construction sectors. Currently serving as a Commissioner at the Gateway Development Commission since 2019, Jamey Barbas also contributes to Columbia Engineering as a member of the Board of Directors for the Board of Visitors and holds a leadership role in the NATIONAL ACADEMY OF CONSTRUCTION as the Sustainability Lead on the Executive Insight Committee. Previously, Jamey Barbas was a Project Director at the New York State Thruway Authority and served on various boards, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority where responsibilities included Audit Chair and Vice Chair of the Capital Program. Jamey Barbas's background includes senior leadership roles at Louis Berger International and Hardesty & Hanover, as well as significant contributions to Arup, where the Bridge Business was developed for the Americas. Jamey Barbas holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Columbia Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Biopsychology from Barnard College.

Gateway Development Commission (GDC)
The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure program in the country – a comprehensive rail investment program that will improve commuter and intercity services, add needed resiliency and create new capacity for the busiest section of the Northeast Corridor (NEC). The NEC is the most heavily used passenger rail line in the country hosting more than 2,200 train movements and 800,000 passenger trips daily. The Gateway Development Commission (GDC) is a single-purpose bi-State agency with Board members representing Amtrak and the States of New York and New Jersey. GDC is the project sponsor for the Hudson Tunnel Project.
