Turi Munthe is the Founder of Parlia, and Venture Partner at North Base Media.
He was born in Rome in 1976, and graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Arabic and History, before going on to graduate work at New York University.
Munthe began his career in book publishing, while writing for the British and American press. He edited the Saddam Hussein Reader and covered the 2003 Iraq war as a journalist, before founding the Beirut Review of Books. Between 2004-5, he ran the Middle East Programme at RUSI, the world’s oldest defence think tank.
In 2008, Munthe founded Demotix, which became the largest network of photojournalists in the world and exited to Corbis Corp in 2012. Since 2015, he has been a Venture Partner at North Base Media VC which invests in media and media technology, and in 2019 founded Parlia – an encyclopedia of opinion.
Munthe lives in London.

GEDI publishes la Repubblica, La Stampa, Il Secolo XIX, 9 local daily, the weekly l'Espresso and other magazines. Part of the group are also three national radio stations (Radio Deejay, Radio Capital and m2o). GEDI is even present in the internet sector and through Manzoni collects advertising for his and for third-party publications. Chairman is John Elkann and company’s CEO is Maurizio Scanavino.
