Joy Zhang

Joy Zhang is an accomplished technology leader currently serving as the Vice President of Artificial Intelligence at GEICO since November 2024, and as the Director of Engineering and Head of Intelligent Support Platform and Products at Airbnb since August 2018. At Airbnb, Joy leads seven teams of 60 engineers in creating scalable machine learning and intelligent automation services. Joy also initiated the Machine Learning Council, defining a four-year Machine Learning Vision, standards, and Governance requirements. Previous roles include Chair of AI Labs for SVLC, Research Scientist/Engineering Manager at Facebook, and Research Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University. Joy holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University and has a strong background in machine learning and natural language processing.
