Matthew Flairty

Matthew Flairty currently serves as the Head of Legal at Gem, overseeing the legal function across all practice areas, including commercial, product, corporate, privacy, and employment since November 2023. Prior to Gem, Matthew held multiple roles at Thumbtack from February 2019 to November 2023, including Deputy General Counsel, Assistant General Counsel & Head of Strategic Transactions, and Senior Counsel & Acting Head of Legal. Matthew's experience includes practicing as an Associate at Goodwin Procter LLP, focusing on corporate and transactional matters, as well as serving as an Associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in complex civil litigation and at Bingham McCutchen advising on general litigation matters. Matthew also interned in the labor and employment division of the San Francisco City Attorney's Office during law school. Matthew holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley - School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Government from the University of Louisville.
